My name is Kerrie, and I'm the artist behind K3 Creations Artworks!
I love experiencing (and contributing to) the passion and energy of my fellow Artists, and I'm exited to be a part of the Zibbet Community! My artistic inspiration comes to me from everywhere, but it's my "hyperactive imagination" that takes all those bits and pieces and turns them into something unique and beautiful!
~~~ A little bit about Me...
I grew up in the city of St. Clair Shores, Michigan near Lake Saint Clair (the not-so-Great Lake between Lake Erie and Lake Huron). I've always been "The Artist" in my family, and so naturally decided to pursue a career in the Arts. I majored in Fine Arts at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and had some of my pieces shown in several student art exhibitions during my time there. I graduated with my B.A. in Art in 1999. Since then, I've had a variety of art-related jobs, as well as selling my pieces at multiple local venues and art fairs. I'm also an active yearly participant in the Michigan Renaissance Festival, and I'm working toward opening my own Artist Booth there within the next few years. Check my Bio every so often for updates!
~~~ A little bit about my Art...
I've been creating beaded jewelry and fancy walking staves for myself, friends, and family for about twenty (or so) years. About ten years ago I took my first stained glass class, and became an instant addict of all things glass! Soon after, I stumbled across the freeform technique I use to construct my Magic Mirrors and Scrappy Suncatchers, and they have quickly become my signature pieces of stained glass art.
About the same time I started working in glass, I also started making my Fantasy Feathers - at first just to hang from my walking staves, but they've now become stand-alone art objects in their own right. Not long after *that*, I reacquainted myself with the techniques of etching metal (in my case, mostly brass) for the creation of my Upcycled Belt Bracelets and other sundry projects.
These days, I mostly bounce between making pieces in one of these several categories as the mood (and customer demand) strikes me. I love playing around with new ideas and techniques (or finding new uses / applications for old ones...). I especially love applying techniques from one artform to the materials of another. Lately I’ve even been branching out into custom accessories for cosplay! I'm always trying new things, and even I sometimes don't know what I'll be creating next!
"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
Art is knowing which ones to keep."
~ Scott Adams
P.S. - If you'd like to see more of my Art, you can check out photos of other pieces I have created in my albums on Facebook! While these pieces are not for sale, they are a great starting place if you're thinking about ordering a custom piece, and need a bit of inspiration...
