It's amazing how our friends influence us sometimes...
I never used to be a big fan of the color orange, but then I started hanging out more with a friend whose absolute *favorite* color is Orange. After a while, I found that I was making more and more pieces with orange as the primary color...and I blame him!
This suncatcher features stained glass scraps from Kokomo, Spectrum, Bullseye, Youghiogheny, Float Fire, Uroboros, Glue Chip, Pilkington, and even a couple of salvaged vintage pieces! The focal piece of this Scrappy Suncatcher is an extra-special large fused cabochon with imbedded dichroic glass for some added sparkle! Starting with that piece, I added scraps and nuggets and other fun bits until the emerging freeform suncatcher let me know that it was "done". After that, it was a matter of going back and filling and smoothing the solder until everything was nicely finished. A few Autumnal leaf brass stampings as accents and some antique copper patina, and the main suncatcher was ready to go! Only...it seemed like it still needed a little something, so I decided to add a sparkly beaded dangle with a silver plated brass leaf as a charm on the bottom!
I know my friend would approve!
